“Our comrades damaged an American machine. It was forced to land in the jungle. Get there, kill the crew and destroy the machine! Hurry! They are surely trying to repair their helicopter as fast as possible.”

You have seen Jungle Grove from the singleplayer mission: Ho Chi Minh Trail. Remember where you went up this narrow verdant canyon and had to disable all those traps? In the new Red Dawn co-op mission, the US have a small base at the end of the canyon. As VC, you want to wipe out all of the US forces.

Your VC team spawns at one end. There is only one route to follow so pathfinding is not a problem. You constantly go left, then right, then left again as you shoot your way up the canyon. The mission is dangerous because the US camp every turn you make. Go ahead and Rambo your way around a blind corner. KA-BOOM! “Scratch one VC.”
This is a beautiful map, filled with lush green vegetation. The US has has plenty of foliage in which to hide. Expect the US behind every bush, rock and tree so use the terrain to your advantage. You can hide behind the bushes, too. You can climb many of the tree limbs. In one spot, you must take a high route up into the rocks.

There are still a few bamboo triangle markers probably from the SP map. Ignore them; the map is not rigged with traps. That graffiti “R + D” heart is still on that tree trunk, too. What is that all about? An Easter Egg?
As for the AI, if you won’t take the fight to them, they will take the fight to you. That’s right, the US soldiers move forward to come and get you. The US also move away from grenades. You can have fun throwing a grenade to make them run into your second or even third grenade.
The US move to a new spot after a kill. How many times did I spawn and run back to where I left them, expecting an easy kill? “Wait a minute, he is not here. Where did he go?” KA-BOOM! “Scratch one VC.”
On the AI downside, the US soldiers use the same route to move down to get you. I placed a trap at the same location three different times and got three easy kills. You probably won’t see that in a public co-op game.

At the US base, you will find that the only entrance has a M2.50 machinegun trained on it. Expect a barrage of suppressing fire if you try to enter the base. So don’t even try. In fact, you should just give up right now. No one can make it into the US base.
